Or, Vaccines work, stop following the hype.
So, Herb’s mother, Karen, calls and tells my mom, “Guess what, we are having a party for Herb, he has the chicken pox.” Oh, goody. So, mom gathers my brother and me and off we go to Karen’s house for a crappy party that is going to make me sick. Great ma, that’s just what I wanted, to spend a week at home, itching my ass off (along with other parts of me) because your parenting skills said this would be a “great” idea. How about NO. I don’t care how much cake, punch, or fun we were supposed to have…you made me sick on this trip. Oh, and up yours Karen for being a crappy parent by inviting the whole neighborhood. You could have just kept your fat mouth shut.
Ok, so today, we take our kids to the pediatrician, and instead of them recommending calamine lotion and oatmeal baths as the lesions work their course, they offer an immunization. Wow, a novel idea that doesn’t get me sick. So, why doesn’t Karen let her children get it now? Well, a celebrity told her, on the internet, that her kid got autism from vaccines and they contain all kinds of “poisons”. The internet…what did nursey poo tell you about medical advice from the internet? I swear on my coffin that I would take a giant ruler to your hands for not talking to your provider and instead, taking advice from the internet. With rare exceptions, you will get, “Let’s vaccinate him, Karen, they are safe and effective.” Ok so not all providers recommend this, and as an example, there is this bozo.
Republican Mark Green, a Congressman-elect from Clarksville who is also a medical doctor, express hesitation about the CDC’s stance on vaccines, he also said he believed the federal health agency has “fraudulently managed” the data.
And later says:
“Let me say this about autism,” Green said. “I have committed to people in my community, up in Montgomery County, to stand on the CDC’s desk and get the real data on vaccines. Because there is some concern that the rise in autism is the result of the preservatives that are in our vaccines.
The whole article is here. Ok dude what kind of crap is that? Are you playing to your base or did you spend your career under a rock? The evidence continues to mount how all this link to autism is, is crap… you know, poo-poo, dung, manure, a politician speaking. I get it if your base is so ignorant this kind of thing makes you win, but what are you really winning? NOTHING. Except endorsing Karen’s stupid idea to get her damn kids sick. Thankfully, Lamar Alexander is the voice of reason…wow, there is something I didn’t ever think I would say…, chimes in with “Vaccines take deadly, awful, ravaging diseases from horror to history,” in a tweet. At least someone gets it in Tennessee.
Andrew Wakefield was paid by folks against vaccines to develop data that found a link to autism. He did it on purpose, the Lancet (a very respectable medical journal until that point) published it. Of course, every damn Karen in the world had a casus belli (an excuse to declare war) and say that vaccines are bad. Then celebrities looking for a reason for a son with autism seized it and used celebrity power to push the issue. Turning, normally sane people, into absolute weirdos. Ugh. As an aside, autism is horrid, and I do realize that part of Jenny McCarthy’s struggle here was that search for “why my child” and totally dig that. Shortly after that the data was found fraudulent, and “Dr” Wakefield is just that, not a real doctor anymore and the article redacted. So, the science is behind vaccines. Why let your kids get sick when they don’t have to? Many childhood diseases can cause permanent disability or death. The mumps can cause sterility; no grandkids out of that one. Look, do the right thing not the in-vogue kind of thing. Yeah, this includes the flu shot, and I will tell you why that is important because that is a whole post by itself. Go do it and don’t be like Karen. I would hope you care far more about your children. But if not, at least the children’s coffin market can grow again, right?
