Is this clickbait? and other updates…

I am older but not unsavvy when it comes to tech.  Before I even thought of being a nurse, I looked at being in computer science (I know a few former co-workers wished I would have). The idea of new and growing technology was thrilling to me, and I thought great, this is for me (yeah right).

What I discovered other than the large portion of didactic information, I was also spending hours in the computer lab without any human contact.  Oh, boy, that was not for me. At that time in the 1980s, most of us nerds were socially awkward and were ok with isolation; I was not.  You can see that the friends that I have maintained all these years like Chris are social as well as everyday old nerds.

I changed majors, and then I gave up and went on Active Duty. When I decided what I wanted to be when I grew up, well, you see the result.  I really would like to be retired off the grid, so I didn’t have to put up with the level of outrage on things like I blogged earlier today (see Nurseferatu.net).

Anyhow, I received a warning from Facebook:

Review Complete: You’ve Repeatedly Shared Clickbait

We reviewed your recent posts’ headlines again and determined that the content you’ve shared is clickbait. There’s no additional action to take. This means your Page posts will continue to be reduced in distribution. This restriction will last for 2 weeks

Apparently, my catchy headlines that are designed to grab attention were too much for the AI at Facebook.  What fun, that is, although I am not sure what reduced in distribution means.  I have thought of boosting one of the posts to see what happens.

I was left to opt for a review without any explanation allowed on my part and of course, the result you see above. The policy says nothing concrete (although I would give Zuckerberg some concrete running shoes) about what is clickbait. I have no desire too much more.  There is no one to scream at, and those that do work there are just lackies.

I said this on the podcast (which you should listen to it is here Podcast Sit down with Sara); If I post a link to the blog, it goes to the blog.  I pay actual money to keep it free of malware. If you would like to help, please consider donating to my patreon (Nurseferatu). I am not asking for a vacation to Europe, just a couple of bucks here and there to help with upkeep costs.

If I decide to post a meme or a picture, the source is sanitized so that clicking on it only makes the picture bigger, not take you to a link of another page (even if that content is ok as well, it’s not in my control). Rest assured, I have no stake other than to vent on and discuss healthcare issues.

If you have concerns, you can direct them at me; I will be happy to address and adjust if needed.

Last quick thing; an upcoming post and posts.  This week has been rough on the ward as one of our techs committed suicide in a rather spectacular fashion (meaning it was more than just being found dead). It has sent the staff into a weird bend, and it has been a bit of a challenge.  Even as professionals, our lives are profoundly impacted by the people we serve and those we work. I am putting together a blog post on this.  I am not going to link the article or anything else; however tomorrows post will be on that subject.

Please be the kind of person your mom and your dog hope you are.
