Do I need to pull this blog over?…

Oh, because I will pull it over.

Travis County, Texas confirmed its first case of rubella since 1999; this was after investigating a reported case of measles. Really? We still think that a playboy model, Deuce Bigalow, and a disgraced doctor/researcher, should be a valid source of information.

Why is this difficult for everyone? Look if I wanna talk about the best ways of bikini waxing, I’ll speak with the Playboy Model. If I want to talk about how to have a shit career, I will talk to Deuce. Lastly, if I want to talk to a fraud, I’ll ring up Andrew. This is not that case. This is real science that needs to be listened to above all the new aged, hipster, misinformation. From KVUE Television in Austin

Health officials said an adult who lives in Travis County contracted rubella while traveling overseas. The person was traveling on a plane from Thailand back to the U.S. The person did not travel through Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the airport has confirmed.

Whew, well, at least he didn’t expose hundreds of travelers; however, this person does exist.

Both illnesses can be prevented by the MMR vaccine, which also covers mumps. Although APH said Travis County has a relatively high vaccination rate, there are pockets of the community where opt-outs bring “herd immunity to an unstable status.”

Oh, we all know, don’t we kids? Whether you like it or not, you know that vaccines prevent diseases and the importance of said vaccines in this process. So say it along with me, “Nursie poo, we will stay current on our vaccines and not be a part of the problem.”

If you are in that crowd that thinks they don’t need it:

“So this disease is primarily a problem for pregnant women, so we know that if a woman who is unvaccinated gets rubella during their first trimester of pregnancy, there’s a 90% chance they will transmit that infection to their child,” said Dr. Mark Escott, interim health authority and medical director for APH. “And that can lead to substantial birth defects including deafness, blindness, and a number of other problems.”

Your baby will have worse than autism, it will fucking die. Get that? DIE!

Thankfully many folks of childbearing age are at the fringe of this nonsense and had their vaccines as children. Still, those days are numbered, and soon we will have the era of irresponsible parenting upon us and the increased risk of disease. Look, I don’t want to treat or deal with this process. The reason we created the vaccine is because people died from this. Does someone want to explain why you don’t get vaccines (warning you will be mocked, the evidence is very much against you)?

One reason we are complacent about vaccines is that we never saw the significant scale effects of these diseases. They were well controlled by the ’70s and most irradicated in the 80’s thanks to an aggressive campaign to vaccinate. The links to the harmful effects of vaccines are so minimal that they are not worth messaging. I can assure you that causing autism is not one of them.

It is important to vaccinate and stay current as we can contain and keep these diseases at bay. Ugh. I am tired of begging, and I am less than polite with patients that refuse. Many providers will “fire” patients that refuse to stay current on vaccines as it puts their entire practice at risk. Just get vaccinated.

Your mom and your dog would be proud of you if you did. Be that person.
