I’m still here, although really, I don’t have that much to say. I am left to talk about Covid-19. I am sick to death about this plague and the general bullshit surrounding it. Folks, it is deadly serious and should be taken that way. It strikes me as absurd that somehow folks have tried to twist this into some fake news, hoax bullshit, but alas, that is what we get with a game show host as president. The CDC, as well as public health departments, are the best source of info in the midst of this. Please listen to or read their input in all this.

Chris and I talked about Covid on the show this week, and we agreed that we have run out of anything good to talk about it. Echoing information is not overly helpful either.

Let’s move on, shall we?

What I want to talk about the fact that hospital groups are starting to cut medical provider’s wages MDs, NPs, PAs during this pandemic.

From today’s Salt Lake Tribune (this may be behind a paywall)

Intermountain Healthcare — the most significant medical provider in the state — will cut pay for physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants during the coronavirus outbreak, which an administrator said in a message sent to staff last week is financially necessary amid “the changing needs.”

Are you fucking serious? Frontline staff that will work harder than truck drivers and grocers during this epidemic are going to do their job for less because an extensive, very well funded healthcare system is facing a tough time. I am pretty sure they won’t cut patients any slack on their bills.  

“You’re putting your life on the line, and you’re possibly exposed,” said one advanced practice provider at Intermountain who’s upset by the changes. The Salt Lake Tribune agreed to identify her only by her position because she fears being fired for speaking out.

I am beyond livid, even though I don’t work for these pricks. This is beyond the threshold of stupidity. The people that your organization needs almost as much as nursing staff (which I am sure are about to take a cut too) are being told to work in extraordinary dangerous conditions for less pay. Tell me how the fuck this works.
