The Battle of a sex

I guess Mary isn’t the only one who can spontaneously produce children these days.

A Woman, who’s been in a vegetative state for a few years, gave birth to a child to the surprise of, pretty much everyone and the Pope. Never forget to mention the Pope in times like this, cause just in case. This happened in a skilled nursing facility, kind of like the one in Kill Bill, Pussywagon and all I guess.

The family’s attorney said they are “outraged, traumatized and in shock by the abuse and neglect of their daughter at Hacienda HealthCare.” The family will care for the baby, the attorney said.

Ya think? It’s obvious that this woman cannot consent. She is completely at the mercy of those who take care of her. Her abuse is a metaphor for the way women are treated by the healthcare system. We suck at women’s health in medicine because of the restrictions that are in place to regulate their bodies and what they can do with them, but in our approach to care for female patients. I’m not sure what is causing the increasing restrictiveness on women’s health and the incredible amount of oversight by the government, but I have my suspicions. Why are we afraid of letting women have control of their bodies?

This is straight out of the bible. It’s not where I go to get my advice to take care of female patients, nor should it be a guide for women’s health or reproduction practices in medicine. In biblical terms, women were needed to bear children and to populate the planet. Ok, we can slow that reproductive need as we have long reached overpopulation. In a very strictly religious society, like Ireland, there were, until recently, some very draconian, anti-abortion laws and restrictions on women’s’ health. First off, no birth control. That and sterilization as a woman wasn’t allowed at all. If you were pregnant and the baby was in distress, and it placed the mother’s life in danger, they were not allowed to abort the child to save the mother’s life. The child was considered more important. The absurdity and lengths that people, or religious organizations, will go to force women into pregnancy and risk the mother’s life if the child poses a threat to her life is ridiculous. One might argue that society regards having sex without being married a sin, yet it seems to be placed more on women than on men. Let’s be honest, men are dogs and will have sex with anything that moves, and the result is, no one cares. I am going to bet that in this situation in Arizona, that no action will be taken against the father if they find him. Sad but true, after all, she was laying in that bed drooling, they’ll say she wanted it, or it was God’s will mumbo jumbo. So, there we land. This will take years to change and really the #metoo movement is only a small step in a long hike.

While Nursie poo is not a woman, sorry if I blew that for ya. But come on, so many men love to ‘splain it to women about why they need their bodies controlled. This one doesn’t. I do not do women’s health, because quite frankly, there is a ton that can go wrong. I wouldn’t suck at it, but it is just super complex medicine. So, why in the ever-loving hell do preachers, legislators, or other men on the street think that it is ok to dictate that stuff. Most of them can’t even find the clitoris with the woman pointing at it; how in the hell do we expect them to know the complexities of the reproductive system? Think back to the guy who said that women can’t get pregnant if they’re raped because their bodies know and prevent the pregnancy from happening. Basically, they’re fumbling when it concerns women’s health more than the teen boy, on prom night, in the backseat of his parent’s car with his girlfriend’s bra. They can’t, and they won’t use reason to ask for help or to include actual experts in the field, because that would mean admitting that health comes before religion and that buzzword, religious freedom. They are wrapped in a book written a long time ago that has antiquated ideas of roles that they refuse to move forward and allow women to protect themselves. They are trapped in a dogma that disrespects and hurts women and women must fight for every small piece of control they have over their bodies. Even those who don’t “agree” with these movements actively use these freedoms, whether they want to admit it or not. Like, the fact that they’re allowed in public while menstruating and that they aren’t being raped to force them into marriage. Or that they aren’t being sold by their fathers into prostitution. And that there isn’t female circumcision allowed in our country.

Men are the worst in this. In all states, it is easier to get a script for Viagra than it is for the morning after pill. Pharmacists can “choose”, for religious reasons, not to fill a script (this applies to a lot of things, BCP, Plan B, hormones, HIV meds and more are part of that) and force a woman to travel to another pharmacy when that may not be convenient or a realistic option for them. Even the fact that in most drug stores, people must go right up to the counter to get condoms. The embarrassment alone may prevent junior from getting a condom and once again we are stuck…But it is ok for junior to sow his wild oats, but the girl is a whore because she followed the same sexual urges as junior.

So, where does all this rage go? Well, a couple of places. They need to aggressively find the dude that thought knocking up a comatose person would be ok or selling a ride on her to their buddies. They need to slam his ass, and every other Brock Turner, and every Rapist to the wall, men, and women (yes, women can be rapists too). It is not the victim’s fault, it’s the fact that a man or a boy was unable to keep his pecker in his pants and/or uses it to exert control. It’s their fault, end of story.

Women need to be able to say, I do or don’t want this. Hey, its ok if abortion or the pill isn’t in alignment with people’s belief systems, but to deny them to others is unethical and dangerous. We also need to reign men in, like the APA is trying to do with treating Toxic Masculinity, because it’s a problem and how Brock Turner only served a couple of months in jail.

Listen you horny, self-serving bastards…Sex is great, but hell dude, at least try doing the right thing. I know it’s tough because that thing between your legs makes you think you are superior…you aren’t, really you aren’t, and you owe the people in our society both men and women respect.
