Social media hasn’t created more cruelty—it’s just made it harder to ignore. Sexual assault, racism, abuse—they’ve always been here. The difference is we can’t hide them anymore. As a survivor of both childhood assault and military sexual trauma, I can say this much: rape isn’t about sex. It’s about control. And it’s past time we stopped excusing it.
