A PR problem is all this is…

Wow, in Vanity Fair today was a piece that hit home about just unprepared the President is for this and how much he thinks gaslighting will fix it.

I have never made any secrets about my feelings towards the President. Also, many key members of Congress tend to kiss his ass too much. I have also tried to keep this about medicine, healthcare, and nursing. There are far too many political blogs out there. And honestly, since we are in a constant election cycle, these folks get too much attention as is. I heard them called leaders the other day, and many of them fail to inspire confidence in me or many of my peers (definition of a leader).

When I was reading the Vanity Fair piece, I was pretty quick to agree with the concept. The pandemic is a P.R. piece for Trump as opposed to an actual life or death situation. There is much more worry about the image of the President than the spread of disease.

Last Thursday, as the stock market was on the way to losing nearly 2,400 points—its biggest single-day plunge since the 1987 Black Monday crash—Donald Trump was worrying about the fate of the football season. NFL players aren’t scheduled to report to training camp for months, but according to a source, Trump feared that the league might preemptively announce it was following the NBA and NHL and suspend or delay operations due to the coronavirus. So Trump called NFL owners to see if any action was on the horizon. “Trump begged them not to cancel the season,” a source briefed on the call said.

Holy bat balls fat man,

It reflected Trump’s magical thinking that he could manage the coronavirus pandemic by convincing people life would remain normal, and sports would be played. (Last week, Trump also spoke with Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White and advised him not to cancel UFC events.)

The pandemic response is the kind of shit that will make Trump a very well-remembered president, ya know the one that killed half the population with his utter ineptness as a leader or in general as President. Predictably someone who is inept.

Sources told me Trump is regretting that Kushner swooped into the coronavirus response last week. Kushner, according to sources, encouraged Trump to treat the emergency as a P.R. problem when Fauci and others were calling for aggressive action. “This was Jared saying the world needs me to solve another problem,” a former White House official said. One source briefed on the internal conversations told me that Kushner advised Trump not to call a national emergency during his Oval Office address on March 11 because “it would tank the markets.

So you getting the picture? It’s not prevention of preparedness; it is fucking P.R. Which is why a test method was delayed, why it took individual healthcare organizations to develop their own plan instead of a standardized screening. To not use the Bioterrorism assets of the CDC’s LRNC labs to make sure testing and surveillance as accurate as possible. The CDC trains their asses off for these events, they have plans in place and are well networked, but image you know so Mike fucking Pence is in charge and screens all information before it is released outside of the federal government…Do you see why Chris and I bitched about politics on the Podcast this weekend? Its shit like this that gets us killed and as long as Donnie’s hair doesn’t get mussed, hey who cares. If at this point you are looking to see him reelected, you need a mental exam.

So, since our government is out getting a wash and set on their fucking hairdos, prepare yourself.

This does not mean you should go to fucking Costco and buying all the God Dammed toilet paper or hand sanitizer. On the Facebook page is a video that shows that simple household soap is effective at destroying the virus. Preparedness is being able to shelter in place and health habits that stop disease spread. It is also keeping a social distance so that the virus has nowhere to go. Simple.

Yes, it is severe, and people will get very fucking sick, it is not a hoax as the crew over at Fox would have you believe.

Look, be well and be the kind of person your dog and your mom hope you are
